YesYesNo25 years of USDA regulatory experience in the meat, poultry, and egg products industry, including oversight of HACCP implementation, adherence to SSOP and labeling regulations, assuring the humane handling of livestock for slaughter, import / export issues, regulatory investigations, food illness outbreak trace-backs, and managing recalls. Hands-on experience with in-plant regulation serving as an Inspector in Southern California, then as an Enforcement Investigations and Analysis Officer, and Frontline Supervisor in Northern California. Transitioned to an Investigator, and then Supervisory Investigator, within the Office of Investigation, Enforcement and Audit in Denver, Colorado. During my tenure with OIEA I conducted, and supervised, numerous surveillance activities, enforcement actions, recall actions, criminal investigations, and criminal prosecutions for the western region. In 2015 I promoted to Deputy District Manager for the Denver District, managing the in-plant inspection activities conducted by a multi-disciplinary team. My team carried out regulatory inspection activities in approximately 300 meat, poultry, and egg, inspection establishments across several states and US territories.

Following my retirement from federal service I established a consulting firm in 2019 to assist industry producers with regulatory issues relating to all aspects of food safety in the meat and poultry industry. We assist our clients with obtaining Federal Grants of Inspection, HACCP & SSOP development and implementation, assistance with labeling, facility and equipment review and consultation, guidance with microbiological and chemical testing, Humane Handling Program development and implementation, and we provide technical expertise in responding to, managing, and resolving all regulatory issues.
